STRAIGHT TALK ON . . . The Federal Job Search - A "Three - Step Process"
USAJOBS, the government's official job web site provides access to more than 30,000 job listings daily as well as applications, forms, and employment fact sheets. Job postings are updated daily and are available to job seekers in a variety of formats to ensure accessibility for those with differing physical and technological capabilities. You can search for jobs by location, job category, and agency. Use the "Jobs in Demand" feature to identify positions that agencies are trying to fill quickly. These listings link directly to the announcements, which allow you to complete and submit your application directly to the agency online.

Step 1 – Create Your Account
Set up your "My USAJOBS" account to:
- Create & post resumes
- Attract employers
- Have jobs emailed to you
Step 2 – Search for Jobs
YOU DO NOT NEED TO CREATE A "My USAJOBS" ACCOUNT TO SEARCH FOR JOBS. From the www.usajobs.gov web page, select "Search Jobs", then enter your desired job information and submit to search the database of thousands of opportunities. Use your resume to apply online instantly.
You can also search our interactive voice response telephone system at 1/703-724-1850 to access the same information that is on the USAJOBS website. The TDD line 1/978-461-8404 is available for our customers that are hearing impaired. Local telephone companies may charge for long distance service.
Step 3 – Manage Your Career
Get all the information and advice you need on obtaining a job in the Government. Employment Information fact sheets are located at www.usajobs.gov/faqs.asp.

You may apply for most jobs with a resume, or the Optional Application for Federal Employment (OF-612), or any written format you choose. For jobs that are filled through automated procedures, Federal agencies may require that you submit a resume and/or other specialized forms. Jobs with unique requirements may also occasionally require special forms.
There are two versions of the Optional Application for Federal Employment (OF-612) available on this page.
The first (OF612.TXT), is a text version that can be filled out off-line or by using a text editor. To view, print, or save this form, click on the .TXT file named above.
The second (ei-25612.pdf) is a graphic version of the form that you can print from a laser printer and complete off-line by hand or typewriter. To download this form, click on the .pdf file name above. Follow the print help instructions below if you need additional information about printing an Adobe Acrobat/PDF file.
PRINT TIPS!To print this document:Most web browsers support an option to print the document that is displayed on the screen. Simply choose the option to print the document (usually located under the file option) and then choose the option to print. How the document prints is dependent on the printer you are using. If you are on a local area network (LAN) then you may need to select a printer before you can print. An option to do this is normally available in the same area that you choose to print a document. You will also need to make sure that the printer is powered on, is on-line, and has paper available. To print an *Adobe Acrobat/PDF files:
The Adobe Acrobat reader is a freeware product available from Adobe at http://access.adobe.com. There are versions of the Adobe Acrobat reader for several computer platforms. Click here http://access.adobe.com/ to connect to the Adobe Acrobat site. Once there you can obtain the reader for your computer platform. Follow the instructions on the Adobe site to install the reader on your system. Once you have installed the reader you can view or print files that end in .PDF. Some browsers will allow you to configure a "helper" application that will load the Adobe Acrobat reader whenever you click on a file that ends in .PDF. Please refer to the instructions that came with your web browser on how to set up or install a "helper" application. The Adobe site also contains instructions on how to do this. The Windows file manager will also allow you to specify an association so that whenever Windows needs to display a file that ends in .PDF it will load the Adobe Acrobat reader.
